Story

Update: June 2021

Training official started.

Update: May 2021

Here we go once more. The training will be starting soon.

This will be my third marathon.

I am looking forward to the final date, to run in London, for critical ill children. My heart couldn’t feel warmer and bigger for doing so. There is time to donate.

Every penny counts and is more than appreciated.

With all my heart I thank everyone who made a donation.

Thank you.

Update: October 2020

Here is my virtual marathon experience:

I started my run at 09:30am. I send out a text to a few friends, mentioning where I will be starting and most likely finishing. I did send my route and where the best spots are to catch me.So I got up an 7:00am and got ready. At 9:30am on dot I was at my starting position, which was only a few walks from my house. To my surprise friends had already arrived to wish me luck and a good run. That felt wonderful. Also the sun was out, just a beautiful day for a marathon. My friend Steff kicked off with me for 10 miles. A few miles later another friend, Marlijn was waiting for me and gave me company for another 5 Miles.

After that my husband  Moritz and my son Kaspar came with  me on their bikes for another 5 miles. Than I ran „ alone“. It was a super windy day and many „walkers“ where out and sort of in my way .. ha ha … on mile 20 the cousin of Moritz came along. To my luck. This was the first time I felt tired. Is this typically the milage  were you „hit the wall“? Soon after,  Moritzs Aunt „Minna“ came along. And she did push me thru. Without her I wouldn’t have finished as strong as I did. She was the energy I needed towards the end. Serious the last 3 Miles went on for forever. Usually the last few miles  are the fastest right? Ugh… I had a hard time. But! Done!!! And many friends of mine where waiting on my personal finish line with cake, water, laughs, hugs and positivitiy. All cheered for me loud and proud and finishing in 4:04:55h couldn’t have felt better.

Running for charity for the first time in 2019 was such an overwhelming heart filling experience, I want to continue doing it. So I’ll deferred my entry for the London Marathon and keep going to raise funds for these wonderful charity SPARKS.

For now I am planning to run on October 3rd 2021 the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise vital funds for Sparks, a charity that funds pioneering research across the UK helping to find new treatments and cures for children and families who desperately need them.

Since 1991, Sparks has funded over £30 million of research into over 80 childhood conditions. These include childhood cancers, epilepsy, spina bifida, Crohn’s disease, Down’s syndrome, Krabbe disease, cerebral palsy and the risks associated with premature birth.

Please consider a donation for this wonderful cause.

Every penny counts. Thank you.
