Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I've decided to run the 10 Mile Bupa Great South Run 2015 in Portsmouth on October 25th for Cystic Fibrosis.

The BUPA Great South Run takes place over a 10 mile course through the streets of Portsmouth passing landmarks such as HMS Victory & the Spinnaker Tower. Around 25,000 runners will take part in this highly popular run, raising millions for various charities. The 10 mile course is fairly flat thank goodness and offers a wide range of views passing historic sites along the way. Along with the thousands of fun runners, there will also be athletes, celebrities & charity teams from around the world taking part.

Since January 2015 I have been training for this and one other event. I have completed the GSR before in 2012 achieving a time of 1hr 25mins. I am looking to get as close or beat that this time round! This particular charity is my chosen business charity for Valentinos Displays for 2015. I hope you will support myself and this charity in donating.

Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening inherited disease, affecting over 10,000 people in the UK. You can't catch or develop cystic fibrosis, it's something you're born with and most cases in the UK are now diagnosed soon after birth. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition. One person in 25 carries the faulty cystic fibrosis gene usually without knowing, over two million people in the UK. If two carriers have a baby, the child has a one in four chance of having cystic fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases. Cystic fibrosis is caused by a single defective gene. As a result, the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, become clogged with thick sticky mucus resulting in chronic infections and inflammation in the lungs and difficulty digesting food. cysticfibrosis.org.uk are the only UK-wide charity making a daily difference to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis, and those who care for them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Any contribution is very much appreciated, every penny counts, Thank you xx
