Story
Hello and thanks for visiting my page. I’m running the London marathon for everything Ellie, a local charity based in North Devon in memory of Ellie. Her full story can be found on her website however they provide support and rest for children going through treatment such as a lodge completely free and with your funds can continue to offer such support and more.
So I’ve been training for some time, in fact almost 3 years since 2019. Initially I was in the 2020 marathon but this got cancelled and postponed to then be cancelled again. But here we are now in 2022 and finally I am running this year 2nd October. Afterm many months of running and lots of long runs I’m hoping to complete the full 26.2 miles.
UPDATE
thanks to everyone who has donated, I completed the marathon not very quick but got there. The last 5 miles were quite tough but a lot of others seems to be suffering too!! So apart from being overtaken by big bird, chewbacker, a stormtrooper, a minion and a guy with a broken foot it was great all the same. I actually beat the guy with a broken foot!
The most deflating part was my Apple Watch telling me I’ve completed 34km and then next sign on the course said 27km so I’ve actually been under training !
That said I managed to get there, seeing the finish line was great and it seems (if my watch is accurate) I actually picked up the pace! Got my medal and then a nice long walk to the station lol.
Thanks to those who came up to watch, atmosphere was great, I can only thank the banana lady for a banana at mile 20, I think that actually got me to the end.
So yesterday I couldn’t walk, my legs were so sore any movement was horrible, so bad I had to cancel my massage. However today feeling a lot better and I can actually walk a few meters, I’ve heard this could last a week.
And so the ballot is open again to give it another go, and NO definitely NOT!
Good luck to anyone who enters for next year, I won’t be in it 😂😂
See you all soon, thanks again
