RunThrough Lee Valley VeloPark 5K Run · 28 March 2020

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In January 2019, I began a self-care and wellbeing journey, that I labelled as 'You Owe it To Yourself'. Over the last 12 months, I have managed to join the gym, quit smoking, and engage in more positive behaviours and habits altogether. This journey has had a majorly positive impact on my own physical and mental wellbeing, however, over the last few months, I have struggled with some anxiety-related tendencies due to previously unforeseen events, stresses, and additional pressures. Alongside this, in and out of work I regularly come across people who access relevant support services, therefore, the mental health charity 'Mind' has a particular significance to me.

Why are you supporting me? On Saturday, March 28th 2020, I will be running a 5K run (event name: RunThrough) in Lee Valley Velopark (Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park). I have NEVER dreamt of running, and in fact, if you told me a year ago that I would willingly sign myself up for a run - I would believe you are joking, and you aren't funny at all. I understand that 5K is not a marathon, however, between September-November I had put a 'hold' on my gym life, and from Monday, December 9th 2019 I began 5-6 day a week preparations, some of which are sessions with a personal trainer who is helping me achieve my End Goal: 5K in under 30 minutes. This will be a serious challenge for me, but I look forward to this.

I hope that you will support me in raising money for the named charity over the next couple of months. I have set a £500 target, however, the sky isn't the limit. If you are able to help in any way at all, it would mean the world and more, because Mental Health is not a taboo - it's all about me and you!

HOW YOUR DONATION CAN HELP MIND:

£3 - Could put their 'Find the Words guidebook' in local GP surgeries, helping people to make the crucial first step of asking their doctor for support.

£8 - Could answer a call to their Infoline, providing someone with vital support and information about help in their area.

£21 - Could run their online peer support community Elefriends for an hour, helping people connect with others and feel less alone.

£50 - Could help Mind campaign for better mental health services from the Government, so more people get the support they need, as soon as they need it.
