Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. For the month of November, I'll be taking part in the MOVEMBER challenge to help raise money for CANCER  RESEARCH  UK.  Yes, that means I'll be growing a ridiculous moustache and embarrassing myself, and those seen with me, all for a worthy cause. Personally I've had family members affected by this terrible disease and I'm sure most of you have too. In May 1988, one week before his 19th Birthday, my oldest brother Robbin-Jean Broekhuis, passed on after losing the fight with cancer.  He was diagnosed with a cancerous (malignant) brain tumour and fought the fight right to the end, but ultimately the doctors and all the medicines at that time were unable to save him.  I know he would have stood a better chance with all the advances of the last 22 years.  None of these advances would be possible without the time and effort people around the world have put into research to help advance the medical treatments.  All this takes money and if we as a human race will ever be able to cure this terrible disease, it’s going to take a lot more money. Today, as I write this, another family member is fighting this battle.  I've been asked not to share any personal details at this point and out of respect I won't, but think for a second... you'll know someone in your family, a close friend or someone around you who has been or is currently being affected by cancer.  So why not help make a stand with me by raising some money to help fund this worthy charity? I believe that prevention is best medicine, so in this case, let’s help researchers cure cancer instead of treating its effects and losing those close to us.
