Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving

So the famous 12 mountaineers were due to be setting off to walk 42km in the Barrettstown Dublin mountains challenge on May 24th and than on the 13th of September in memory of Aoibhe O’Connor and trying to raise some vital funds for barretstown along the way, but due to covid the dublin mountains challenge has been cancelled, so we are planning to walk 42km around Killeagh parish roughly 50 townlands on the 27th of September..

Barrettstown is a place full of fun and laughter for very sick children and there families. A place where they leave their troubles at the door, and we all know what great work they do for very sick children with great camps, but they also hold bereavement camps which are for families who lost a child/sibling, these camps are very beneficial for families like mine and they show great support to those going to though a very difficult time in there lives, it's like entering a bubble when you arrive into the camp in Barrettstown, it's a place that you should never want to be, but amazingly you find it hard to leave due the support showed from the Barrettstown staff and from other families going through the same situation.

At Barretstown, they need your help to raise over €6 million each year. One of the founding principles of Barretstown is that campers and their families come here because of a need, rather than an ability to pay. Everything, including accommodation, food and medical assistance are provided at no cost to the family.

They do not receive on-going funding from the Serious Fun Network – so they rely almost entirely on donations and the fundraising efforts of individuals, community groups and corporate supporters. That’s why event’s and fundraising is so important.

Thanks for visiting and donate if you can.
