Story
My name is Aoife Phillips, I am 15 years old and I live and go to school in Hackney. I am very fortunate to be given the opportunity to travel to Nepal in July 2011 with Leaside trust.
Leaside Trust (charity no. 1027645), is an education trust which has been providing water-based activities and opportunities for young poeple in East London to develop self confidence, trust, self discipline and teamwork through outdoor pursuits, for over twenty years. This expedition to Nepal has been taking place every year for the past 15 years; a group of 15-18 people are selected to go on this unique and life changing experience. This expedition continues vital support to a small village in the Annapurna range of the Himalayan Mountains.
leaside has been able to provide a school building, necessary equipment for learning, and has just completed the fundraising for a football pitch, thanks to the support of this expedition.
The village of Barpak is about 1900m above sea level, with very little electricity and the main water supply is a local river. I need to raise £2,000 to go on this trip, some of this money will go toward paying the local villagers for their help, and expensive. Money will be saved to go toward projects such as the football pitch, such thing we take for granted living in this modern world. This is another reason I want to go on this expedition, it will change my view on the world as I have taken many things for granted. I hope to continue work with this village after the trip.
I will be so grateful if you could donate any money at all. You will be helping to continue this great work. If you have any questions please email me at
Thank you
