Story

Neil has always hated running, but reluctantly, his arduous running journey for Cancer Research UK, began at the Humber Half Marathon (26th June 2016).

Since then Neil has completed his challenge of running 10 marathons for the charity, joined by his amazing friend Brett McMann on 6 of them:

Yorkshire Marathon October 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2022

London Marathon April 2017, 2018, and October 2021, 2022

Edinburgh Marathon May 2022

Paris Marathon April 2022

Suffice to say, 10 marathons is more than enough for anyone, let alone someone who HATES running!!!

So, the challenge continues, but the baton in 2023 is happily passed to Neil's wonderful wife Ellie and brother-in-law Dean, who have kindly volunteered to run London Marathon to continue this incredibly important fundraising campaign for Cancer Research UK.

Your kind, continued support is greatly appreciated x

The Apart project, which has now raised £120,000 for Cancer Research UK in just over 8 years, was established in 2014 when Neil lost a friend, his mother-in-law, his Dad and sister-in-law to cancer in the space of a few years.

He wrote and released a song, called Apart, inspired by the loss he'd experienced, which was the basis for the Apart Project. Sales from the song raised in excess of £14,000, with the annual Apart Ball, donations and the efforts of other supporters bringing the total to date to a whopping £120,000.
