4 Peaks, 4000 metres, £4,000! Atlas Mountains Charity Trek
In November 2017, Managing Director of Apex, Chris Hutchings will be on his way to Toubkal National Park in Morocco in a bid to reach the summit of 4 peaks over 4000 metres. Why?! To raise £4,000 for our Charity Partner 2017, Cheshire Without Abuse.
Joining a group of climbers, over six days Chris will aim to reach the summit of Jbel Toubkal (4,167m), Toubkal West (4,030m), Timzguida (4,089m) and Ras Ouanoukrim (4,083m) located in Toubkal National Park.
They’ll be trekking along rocky foothills, passing gigantic steep slopes dotted with Berber villages, all whilst negotiating the unpredictable weather. The snow-capped peaks will dictate the use of crampons and ice axes, not to mention having to contend with the potential effects of altitude sickness.
Commenting on his trip, MD Chris Hutchings says;
“Bullying, psychological abuse and intimidation are one of the very most insidious forms of abuse. Add to that coercive control, gaslighting, physical or sexual violence, and it is very easy to see why the work of Cheshire Without Abuse and similar organisations is so vital. It takes victims incredible courage to escape abuse - sometimes in life threatening situations. Sadly, some victims are never free of this violent and pathological behaviour.
CWA provide safe refuge and support systems to give victims a real chance at a breaking free of abuse, sometimes in life threatening situations. CWA also crisis accommodation, a safe place or safe house, where women and their children can escape domestic abuse or violence.
I am looking to raise £4,000 which will cover the cost of converting and refurbishing one home for a family in crisis.
The mountain challenge is a tough event which will require
thorough training, however, the vital work of CWA and the families will keep me focused."
