Team Apogee 2013 Multi-Marathon Challenge · 23 April 2013

Help a Capital Child is proud to announce its new name: Make Some Noise – we will help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Thanks to your support, we have grown over the years and we will continue to help those affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity.

Story

The intrepid sportsmen from Apogee Corporation, who have raised close to £100,000 in charitable donations over the last two years, are at it again, announcing today, their 2013 Multi-Marathon Challenge.  Their objective, as always, is to raise funds and awareness for Capital FM’s charity, Help a Capital Child.  Apogee Corporation, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Managed Print Solutions and Document Management, has a long history of ‘giving something back’, which has resulted in ever more adventurous charity sporting challenges.

The 6-strong team, assembled by Apogee Corporation’s co-founders, Barry Ferdinand & Jason Collins, impressed their band of loyal followers last year, with an impressive result in the 2012 Great River Race – a gruelling 21-mile row from London’s Docklands to Ham in Surrey, followed 5 days later, by an even more impressive London to Paris cycle ride, raising in excess of £80,000.

This year, Team Apogee is raising the bar even further in support of Help a Capital Child with a schedule that might, to most, seem near impossible;

28 April: Surrey Wiggle Ups & Down 100-Mile Epic Cycle Challenge

The team will be competing in one of the most challenging cycle events in the UK, covering 100 miles up, down and over the treacherous and punishing Surrey hills.

19 May: Team Apogee Spin-a-Thon; 4-Hour Spin Class Marathon

The team take to the gym for a, no-doubt, pain-inducing 4-hour, non-stop spin class from hell!

20 June: 140-Mile, 2½-Day Thames Row from Lechdale to Teddington

It’s off to the choppy waters of the Thames for the Team, with an enormous 140-mile row ahead of them, spread across 2½ days, with just a few hours rest to recoup their energy and stamina.

7 Sept: The Great River Race – 21-Mile Row from Docklands to Ham, Surrey

Familiar territory for Team Apogee, once again, taking to the challenging waters of The Thames in their team boat, ‘The Sarah Lisa’. Will the team improve on their result as they have done for the last two years?

Mystery Cycle Event: Details to be released in the summer

As if 4 highly challenging events wasn’t enough, Team Apogee are also finalising the details of a fifth and final challenge for the year. Details will be released shortly.

Team Apogee, along with the tremendous support of Apogee Corporation’s staff, business partners, clients and families, has proved, year after year, to be a real force for change in the UK.  The funds raised have enabled Apogee’s chosen charity, Capital FM’s Help a Capital Child, to support hundreds of worthwhile projects which have changed the lives of some of the UK’s most disadvantaged or sick young people as well as their families and carers.

To ensure that Team Apogee’s mammoth efforts can change the lives of as many young children as possible, we are urging all Apogee’s outstanding supporters to show the same generosity they have shown over recent years.   You can donate via The Team’s Just Giving page at www.justgiving/apogeecorp2013

Let’s ensure that this year’s target is as ambitious as Team Apogee’s challenge.  So, let’s blow last year’s fundraising target of £45,000 well and truly out of the water.
