Royal Parks Half for APP

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2022 · 9 October 2022 ·
After the birth of our daughter in early 2022, my wife began to suffer with panic attacks and severe anxiety which later led to her being diagnosed with postpartum psychosis. It's a rare but treatable illness but can be a devastating one for new mums and their loved ones.
As well as our amazing families and friends, we have been fortunate to have the support of the APP community and the NHS staff over the last eight months. Their work makes such a difference to those unfortunate enough to experience postpartum psychosis. Work such as funding activities for mums undergoing treatment, as well as peer support for both mums and their partners helps to minimise the trauma experienced by families.
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is a UK charity. We’re here to make sure mums, parents and families are supported through postpartum psychosis – a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year. We offer information and peer support, facilitate ground breaking research, raise awareness and campaign for improved services. Our life changing peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
