St Peter-in-the-Wood has been a place of worship for more than 800 years. As a community, we have been looking after the fabric of this small church. It has quite a fragile structure and interesting material construction. It has a plain looking small interior, with wonderful touches of decoration inside, of older and more recent design. We have completed phases 1 and 2 of a 3 phase plan of repair and maintenance.
The main features of phase 3 are to repair the ancient churchyard boundary wall, and reorder the vestry to incorporate a lavatory and catering unit, in order to welcome better parishioners and visitors, especially for baptisms, weddings and funerals. The improved facilities will offer better comfort for community events and celebrations.
HIHCT allows us simultaneously to help other church buildings remain in our landscape.
