Story
For the second year running, Ford & Slater apprentices will be raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust – a not-for-profit charitable organisation dedicated to providing care and support for young people living with cancer, and their families.
Last year six of our Apprentice Panel members obliterated their £1,000 fundraising goal, raising close to £2,000 with a 31-mile trek across the Peak District. This year we hope to do even better with a new goal of £2,500!
The challenge
Ford & Slater will be pitting two teams of apprentices against each other in the ultimate battle of strength, stamina and team work – A Ford & Slater apprentice ‘Truck-Pull race’.
Apprentices from across our dealer network will compete to pull one of two DAF XF trucks, weighing over 7T each, the entire length of the Bruntingthorpe Airfield (2 miles!).
Why they are doing it
Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and every single one of them needs expert treatment, support and care to fight the emotional and physical strain that comes with the diagnosis.
Cancer is something which affects most of us in one way or another and we want to help Teenage Cancer Trust to make a difference to the lives of those living with cancer, and their loved ones.
How you can help
Our apprentices would like to thank everyone who has already
made donations for this worthwhile and honourable cause and invite anyone else who would like to help us make a difference to young people living with cancer in the UK, to do so.
We will be sharing more fundraising opportunities on our dedicated Instagram page, so keep an eye out for more @fordslaterapprentice
