Supporting Wounded Veterans helps medically-discharged veterans regain their independence after physical and mental injuries. We offer skihabilitation, pain management, mentoring, and employment programmes. Since 2013 we have helped 90% of our veterans find meaningful occupation.

Story

Supporting Wounded Veterans aids wounded ex-Iraq and Afghanistan campaign soldiers through specially designed programmes. These include ski-based development, ongoing mentoring, pain management (in association with King Edward VII’s Hospital), employment & veteran family support.

At The Oxford Ski Company we never underestimate how good skiing can make you feel. It’s adrenaline packed, makes you fitter, stronger, improves your coordination & encourages you to push yourself out of your comfort zone, giving you a sense of achievement that we all need from time to time. Spending time in the mountains and the fresh, clear air reinvigorates you and takes your mind off the stresses and challenges of everyday life. These are benefits everyone can feel but for some it can do a lot more.

2016 was a hugely successful year for us, having raised well over £16,000 now! Not only have we ran the Oxford Half Marathon, but we also hosted a fantastic event 'Apres Ski in the Cotswolds'.

Now with the end of January fast approaching, a team of 4 are competing in the SWV Business Challenge 2017 to raise more awareness and more money for the charity! http://skiingwithheroes.com/business-challenge

Finally, the best way to summarise the true value of a charity is to hear how it has helped those it aims to help. Here are a couple of quotes from veterans who have experienced Supporting Wounded Veterans -

"I am so very grateful for all that you and your team did for me (and my wife). I am still smiling which is such a change for me. I am starting to feel happiness, which has been absent for far too long now. I do believe that my recovery has begun" Ben, Veteran

"I came off these slopes a different person, with a completely different frame of mind towards my own life and future" HU, Veteran
