Thank you for taking the time to look at my page.
We are raising money for a charity that is very close to my heart, my Nan was diagnosed with dementia over five years ago, accepting and moving forward with this news was the most challenging, difficult and heart-breaking journey my family and I have had to endure. My Nan has been an amazing ray of sunshine throughout this, although day by day we lose another part of her, her caring and loving nature still remains, we truly count ourselves lucky everyday.
Dementia is a cruel disease that strips an individual of their personality, dignity and future. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
Dementia can affect so many people, be it your grandparents, parents, sister, friend or even you in the future. From a recent study by the Alzheimer’s society 225,000 people will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes. These are shocking figures, which highlights the need for further research and funding to help with diagnosis, prevention and support for those suffering and caring for those with dementia. My amazing friends and I will be completing the 10k memory walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s society on the 11th September 2016, which will definitely be a challenge for us all.
Thank you for your support, it really does mean the world to me, my mother and above all my lovely Nan.
