Acorns Childrens Hospice Skydive 2019 · 12 October 2019

Acorns Skydive is back in 2019. Take the plunge and take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity, while raising money for Acorns to continue to support children with life limited and life threatening conditions on 30th March 2019.

Story

I have been so fortunate to have three healthy daughters who have now left home and are living their own lives.  I cannot begin to think what it must be like for families who are not so lucky.  I would like to help the work of the Acorns Children's Hospice who provide such special care in supporting the children and families of life limited children.

To explain, Acorns Children's Hospice is a registered charity offering a network of care for life limited and life threatened babies, children and young people & their families, across the heart of England. The children and young people that Acorn's help are not expected to reach adulthood and require specialist care 24/7. In the last year Acorns has supported 876 children and 1097 families, including those who are bereaved.

Keeping Acorns Black Country Hospice Open

The decision to close Acorns Black Country Hospice in Walsall has been put on hold for four months following a commitment of significant new NHS funding from Black Country healthcare commissioners and an earlier announcement by NHS England that they would double their central funding support to the country’s children’s hospices over the next five years.

This lifeline means that the hospice in Walsall can stay open to children and families until at least the end of March 2020.

But they need to raise £2million to keep the hospice from closure altogether and I am trying to help.

Thank you for your reading this and I hope you are able to support me in this slightly mad undertaking!
