Story

I've set myself the challenge next year to run a half and full marathon in support of the Stroke Association.

In 2017 my aunt, who was 70 years old, died following a massive stroke. She had not been ill previously and there were no warning signs. 4 months later her mum, my nanny, also died after suffering a stroke. Neither of these wonderful women smoked or drank. They both led healthy lifestyles. In addition to these ladies in my life, my step-mum suffered three ischemic strokes at the end of 2017 which were caused by a carotid artery dissection. She was 41 at the time and was - and is still - a very fit and healthy person. She is a non smoker who runs and cycles regularly. There was no explanation as to what caused the CAD. Due to her young age and level of fitness she was lucky to receive the MRI scan, which led to the final diagnosis and ultimately to her survival. Funding will fund research to offer explanations, and to support younger stroke sufferers to be be diagnosed and treated quickly.

Please donate little or large, it all adds up. Keep an eye on my progress towards training on Strava linked below!
