Archway School "Walking Up Everest" · 14 July 2017

This campaign aims to raise enough money to support 50 vulnerable students attend school in Kathmandu, Nepal. These children are very poor and at risk or having to work or beg for a living.

Story

On Friday 14th July between 11am and 3.15pm Year 7 Students will be
taking part in a sponsored walk from Archway School to Haresfield Beacon and
back again. The distance will be 8848m which is the height of Mount Everest in
Nepal. Nepal is also the location of our international partner school, Shree
Chandee Adarsha Saral Secondary School in Lalitpur, Nepal.

Two years ago there was a devastating earthquake in Nepal
that killed 9000 and left many more homeless and with work and other
opportunities disrupted. The students at our partner school were already poor
yet many now found themselves without family members, housing or a means of
supporting themselves. As a consequence the community at Archway School raised
about £10,000 and this enabled 50 of the most vulnerable students to be
supported in their education over the last two years.
