We are raising funds to help Sarcoma UK, the only UK bone and soft tissue cancer charity, to raise awareness for early diagnosis and research into this form of cancer that took the life of Adam Jones in May 2014. Adam was a former Cardiff University student who was a fit and healthy 22 year old until Ewing's Sarcoma struck. We can make such a difference to survival rates in the future by working together which we will be dragging our collective bodies around the streets of Cardiff!
Key Facts:
- There are around 100 different sub-types of sarcoma
- About 3,800 new cases of sarcoma are diagnosed each year in the UK, which makes up approximately 1% of all cancer diagnoses
- 10 people every day are diagnosed with sarcoma in the UK
Sarcomas tend to hit young people:
- Sarcomas make up 15% of all childhood cancers (0-14 years)
- Sarcomas make up 11% of all cancer diagnoses in teenagers and young people (15-24 years)
