So I’m doing the London marathon... hilarious.
I have forever said I’d do the London marathon, and this year (amongst moving to a new city, starting a new career etccccc) I decided was the year. I mean how hard can 42k actually be...
As I’m sure a lot of you know, just before Christmas two years ago we thought mom had the flu, and it turns out she had had a heart attack and thus died. At the time it felt like the worst thing ever (and don’t get me wrong, it’s still pretty sad), but for me it put a lot of things into perspective and getting through that I know (hope) that I can get through a marathon.
I have never ever been a runner, and nor would I consider myself one now- I recently told someone at work I was doing the marathon and his response was “you don’t look like a runner”, THANKZ PAL. However, running has kept me relatively sane and given me a goal to aim towards. Jess and I recently did the Cardiff Half, which I didn’t hate, but I have a v long way to go until I enjoy it, and this is twice as far hahaha!
I am running for an amazing charity who not only fund medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease, but work with communities to improve their lifestyles with healthy heart grants. My favourite project of theirs is a research imaging project (obvs as I’m a neuroscientist at heart), which is looking into a new technique which can predict those who may be susceptible to a heart attack in the future! How exciting!!
HRUK and me will be so so so grateful for anything you can donate!!
Lots of love, I’ll be keeping you updated with 100s of photos and awful stories along the way xxxxxxxx
