Story
Hello friends/ kawan-kawan
This year I learnt a lot about loving others.
My
6th bday is coming up in September, I really want to help the children
in Iraq right now. The news told
us about Christians, the Yazidi and other minority groups in Iraq
currently being persecuted and massacred by a terrorist group.
I want to ask for you to give a donation instead of birthday presents (I have enough). The donations will go to Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East headed
by Canon Andrew White.
Although he is an Anglican priest, his work gives
and helps Iraqis of ALL religions. Their focus is relief and
reconciliation. He is friends and works with many religious leaders in the Middle East, including Sunni and Shia leaders, rabbis, etc. His personal assistant is an amazing Muslim young lady
Dr. Sarah Ahmed. He was on CNN recently talking about what's happening
there.
Usually I receive about 20 presents from
generous friends. That equals maybe about RM500 ($180) worth of gifts.
So with help from my parents, friends and relatives, I'm setting a
goal of RM2,000 ($650). With this I can also tell my friends at my party
and kindergarten, to inspire them that giving is better than receiving.
If you think we can make a difference even though we are small, join me to help the other little people. Give them hope that the world is praying and hurting with them.
Love and peace, Ariel (like the mermaid).
[ps this fundraiser is set up by my 28-year old BFF Jia in partnership with my parents but its my own desire to give.]
