MKA Charity Challenge 2007

MKA UK Charity Challenge · 26 February 2007
Dear All,
So today i took part in the charity challenge, and it will be a day i will never forget.
As of this morning i had raised £746.00 for the NSPCC and i want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for chipping in.
The event was basically a nightmare. I was enthusiastic at the start and keen to make a good start and for the first mile i was running well, good speed, no rain and flat roads. Come the first hill, which was about a 15% incline, such enthusiasm quickly started to get drained from us all!
Shortly after this began the thunderstorm. Sections of the course became a swamp with rivers of mud washing over our feet as we treked across the terain. I managed to finally get across the finish line through a combination of running / jogging / walking / crawling / swimming across the course!
There were over 600 participants and i finished 60th out of the runners. Definately no record times though, but then it was more a day for making it to the end without sliding in to mud pools rather than breaking records!
I truly ache now and just standing up and walking can be a huge effort. Everything feels heavier too.
But, now that i'm home and warm and fed i am pleased i did take part and - thanks to all of you who sponsored me - every mile was worthwhile.
Thanks and best wishes,
Arif

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
For this year's charity challenge i will be raising money for the NSPCC.
After the abuse from last year i plan to aim to 'run' the 13 miles. I am also the web master for the charity walk website www.mkacc.org and pushing everyone to use JustGiving so its extra important that i put in a good performance on the fund raising stakes.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: NSPCC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thanks for your time and i hope you can contribute to this worthwhile cause!
