In memory of Arlo Childers
The foundation exists to provide financial support for the hospital’s mission of improving the health and well-being of children, teenagers, and young adults through excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and advocacy.

Story

Arlo was prenatally diagnosed with an extremely rare disease known as Pentalogy of Cantrell and was one in under 250 world wide born with it. He was the first case Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh had ever encountered. Arlo went into congestive heart failure and passed away the same day feeling love surrounded by his family that he finally was able to meet admits COVID restrictions.

Arlo was only permitted 2 visitors for his entire duration as a patient at Children’s Hospital, including his mother. All other patients were given the same restrictions. Fortunately, Arlo was able to have at least one of his visitors at all times and was never alone while fighting his battle. During Arlo’s duration, however, his mother witnessed so many children and babies having to fight their battles without family members by their side. Some cases were due to COVID restrictions as well as many parents needing to leave the hospital due to not having the financial means to stay with their ill child for one reason or another.

The “Pennies from Heaven” foundation hinders financial burden on parents to enable them to be with their child throughout their battle so their child isn’t forced to be without their loved ones.

Please help us in assisting financial relief towards this foundation in hopes sick children do not have to fight their battles without their number one fans by their side.
