Story

PLA Staff have taken on a lockdown Challenge to get around the world and raise money for the Seafarers.

The challenge sees employees adding their daily exercise distance to that covered by harbour pilots, pilots of ships, surveyors and .

The COVID-19 lockdown has had a sever impact on men and women who sail on cargo ships delivering essential services of food, medicines and fuel. In many cases they have been barred from coming ashore and have spent months on ships away from family and friends.

About the charity

Founded in 1856 and funded entirely by voluntary donations, The Mission to Seafarers offers emergency assistance and support to crews around the world. Whether victims of piracy or those shipwrecked or stranded, we’re there for the globe’s merchant seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs.
