Story

My Name5 Doddie Foundation was established in November 2017 by Doddie Weir and close friends and supporters. Doddie was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2016 and is committed to help find a cure for MND and support fellow sufferers. The ARRAN BELLES first became involved in January 2021, since then we have cycled over 4000 miles in support of Doddie Aid Events and raised more than £5000. Our friend and fellow Belle, Sue B. was diagnosed with MND in late 2020, also Sarah's (another Belle) sister Alison is suffering from this cruel illness.  As a result the ARRAN BELLES feel compelled to remain involved. Last year Sue, and her husband Mark, supported us in Melrose but sadly this year, due to Sue's condition, they will only be with us in spirit, and what a spirit.

Update: Since writing the above our friend and fellow Belle Sue has sadly passed away. Although expected we are devastated. This makes fundraising, to fund research into this most cruel of Diseases all the more imperative. We thank you for any amount, large or small , that you can manage.

The response to the launch of the Foundation has been incredible with thousands of people offering their help and support in a variety of innovative and enterprising ways. The Foundation has raised more than £7 million in three years and already committed £4.5 million to research projects and in grants to support patient

We would be so grateful for any contribution to help fight this cruel illness.
