Make-A-Wish UK is part of a global movement that exists to make life-changing wishes come true for the thousands of critically ill children across the UK. The power of a wish allows families to create lasting memories that they will treasure forever – no matter what the future holds.

Story

Hello everyone

We will run 1km for every £10 raised!

The current Coronavirus pandemic has sadly impacted so many lives. It has also had a knock on consequence on those suffering from other illnesses. Kishan & I believe Make-a-Wish is a beautiful organisation which supports children and their families with memories that last forever.

I have been a Make-A-Wish volunteer for many years now. Make-A-Wish UK grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. They bring joy and happiness into the lives of the families who are faced with many challenges. They provide families an opportunity to make memories together, fulfill wishes and hold onto something which will last forever. The children are delighted, excited and it offers them light in what can be a dark tunnel.

My role as a wish visitor means I get to hear first hand from the children what their one wish is. It is so uplifting and inspiring to visit children who are extremely ill but have nothing but happiness and excitement discussing what they would like to do! The current social distancing measures are here to protect us all, which we fully support, but it has meant that wish visits haven’t been conducted as the children are vulnerable.

The lockdown measures have also hit the normal fundraising activities and as a result the charity have had to postpone about 1000 wishes and stop work on a further 1000 applications.

The current situation is heartbreaking, as each day passes seriously ill children are in isolation with nothing to look forward to and families are going through agony.

Wednesday 29th April is World Wish Day and we are determined to do everything we can to ensure this remains a special day for as many of these children as possible. Kishan and I will be running 1km for every donation to help Make-a-wish!

During this quarantine I’m sure many of us will have saved some money and it would make a world of difference if you are able to donate any amount to help support Make-a-wish. Any donation, no matter how small will be life changing.  Because a child’s life shouldn’t be about illness, hospitals and diagnosis – it should be about wonder, joy and hope.

Thank you all so much

Take care, stay home and stay safe,

Kishan & Arti
