This time last year I would have laughed at the thought of running a half marathon (I'd never even run an official 5km before!) but having got into running this year (and especially within the One Element Docklands group) - here we are, the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2023 with #TeamWarChild alongside Eddie and Karen! 

We are running in aid of War Child UK, the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. For three decades they've been driven by a single goal for no child's life to be torn apart by war. This is a charity that resonates with me as my parents were raised in war-torn Tamil Eelam and were lucky enough to move to the UK for a better life. As a first-generation immigrant, I am privileged to be in the position I am and this is just a small way for me to try and help those who were less fortunate and could not move to escape - especially for children who are the most vulnerable in such conditions.

War Child UK aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out and stay to support them through their recovery keeping them safe, helping them learn and cope with their experiences, and equipping them with skills for the future. 

£8 could provide food, hygiene products and winter clothes vouchers for families who have fled conflict with nothing. 

£17 could cover the cost of a child being safely reunited with their family. 

£32 could provide a whole family caught up in conflict with all their basic needs for a month, including food and blankets.
