So Team Brad are back!!!
Please read our story on why we need your support.
On 17th July 2007 our beautiful son Bradley was diagnosed with ALL, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He was just 4 years old, this was a very devastating and scary time, it was an illness which we had heard of but never really truly understood. We were told that Leukaemia was a blood cancer and that we had to start his treatment straight away, this was a massive shock to hear, how could this be happening to him? So much information to try and absorb. It was a whole new world to us, his parents and also his 3 sisters. We followed all the advice given to us and tried to take in all the types of treatment (Chemo, Steroids etc) after 28 days he underwent a test called MRD (minimal residual disease) This test detects Minimal Residual Disease – the minute numbers of leukaemic cells which would not have been detected under the microscope or by using older, less sensitive, tests.
This was also to discover whether he had a high or low chance of a relapse after his treatment, Bradley’s results came back with a higher chance of a relapse, this was another massive blow to us. He was then to start a much higher regime . In his first year he took all that was thrown at him, which believe me was very hard with many visits to hospital and a variety of different Chemotherapies which also carried many side effects, which I feel most of us adults would struggle with. He has done remarkably well so far and now has just 10 weeks to go until his treatment finishes. We still live with disbelief that this happened to him but owe so so much to all the research that has been done to give Bradley a fighting chance. We cannot thank them enough and will continue to help get the survival rate up to 100% Arwen, Dave, Chloe, Sophie, Jodie & Brad x
