Story
In March 2018 we will be swapping our wine for water, heels for hiking boots and bubble baths for blisters as we trek 115km to Everest Base Camp. We will be walking in extreme conditions, at high altitude and will most likely return home two broken women...Why would we put ourselves through this?
Because in the sixteen days it takes us to complete our trek, 7,680 people will develop dementia. And there is currently no cure.
It's predicted that, by 2021, a million of us will have dementia. Two million by 2051.
Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide crucial information and support, improve care, fund research and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. This condition devastates lives and so many are facing it alone. Alzheimer's Society is working tirelessly to change this and to create a world without dementia.
You can unite with us against dementia by supporting us to achieve our ambitious target of £20,000. Here are some examples of the vital support your donation could provide:
- £1,000 could provide a lifeline to people with dementia and their carers by funding a Dementia Café for an entire month
- £5,000 could provide the resources a research fellow needs for six months
- £25,000 could pay for a Side by Side service to run for six months, helping people with dementia to continue enjoying their favourite activities and feel less isolated
Pleeeeease give all you can - every penny could make the biggest difference.
Thank you and wish us luck!!!
