Story

We're hosting a first-to-score draw and raffle on Saturday, December 16. All proceeds to The Arsenal Foundation. Liam and Andrew visited the Arsenal Hub this summer and saw some of the amazing work the Foundation funds.

Bring your dollars/plastic on Saturday, December 16 because we'll be running some contests to benefit the cause. We'll have first to score at Coopers, and then some raffles drawn at the holiday party. You *DO NOT* need to be present to win, but items can only be delivered locally in the Madison, WI area. If you donate here, please let us know in person or via email (andrew at ascmadison dot com)

Details:

First-to-score = $10/player, with $30 payout *and* a 17/18 jersey

Raffle tickets = $5, sold all day and drawn at 7pm at Vintage Brewing Co. Madison

Raffle prizes: Octopi Brewing gift pack (brewery ballcap, t-shirt, and 2 spots on a brewery tour w/ Liam and Andrew), signed Olivier Giroud trading card, Tyranena brewing gift pack (incl beer, shirt, and $25 gift certificate), Karben4 golf polo, 4pack Central Waters bourbon barrel brewer's reserve stout, Oliphant Brewing crowlers (raffled separately).

We pride ourselves as a supporters club on our work in raising funds and awareness for various charitable causes. It's been a tenet of ours since we first started meeting together 5 years ago and in that time we've helped to raise nearly $100,000 for St. Baldrick's Foundation, Movember Foundation USA, Care Net Pregnancy Center of Dane County, Gooner On The Road (Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation), Willow Foundation, as well as helping local families coping with illness or financial hardships.

What you may not know is the reason we made charitable giving a cornerstone of our supporters club: we wanted to mirror what Arsenal does with The Arsenal Foundation. Back when the club was formed in 1886, matchday program cards were sold to raise money for Homes for Working Boys at the club’s former home in Woolwich, south London. When Arsenal arrived in Islington in 1913, one of the club’s first gestures was a gift of roughly one thousand pounds sterling to the Great Northern Hospital for the endowment of a new bed. Arsenal’s tradition of giving has also expanded over the years, from making contributions to good causes local to the club to supporting major charitable projects in the UK and overseas.

This Saturday's game vs. Newcastle will be this season's official charity match, where the players donate the day's wage to the foundation and encourage supporters to donate as well. This is a chance for us to shine as a supporters club, because while Madison may not have the population and matchday turnout at the pub of a city like Chicago, Boston, or NYC, we make up for those numbers in generosity and heart.

It's time for us to dig deep once more. We'd like to raise as much as possible between now and the raffle draw at this year's holiday party (12/16 @ 7pm).
