We help children with glioblastoma tumours to fund research and help their families

Story

ID Medical is raising money for Shay's Smiles - a charity born directly from the ID Medical family, that will help and support children with glioblastoma brain tumours and their families battling this terminal illness.

Shay’s Smiles was set up just before the tragic passing of 13 year old Shayen Patel, our own CEO Deenu’s son, in September 2020 from a brain tumour.

Shay was diagnosed with the grade 4 incurable glioblastoma tumour aged just 11 years old. He was a loving and kind boy - always going out of his way to help others, donating his pocket and birthday money to help the children who were either fundraising for their own charities or those who were looking to fund treatment overseas.

Inspired by his bravery and kindness his family set up the charity as his legacy. It’s mission is to fund research into paediatric glioblastoma tumours, and to help support the families of children diagnosed with this devastating tumour.

Brain tumours kill more adults and children under 40 than any other cancers, but receive less funding research - so more investment and support is urgently needed.

Every pound you generously donate will be used to support other families of children with terminal brain tumours, going through difficult life-changing events and to lobby for additional funding to improve diagnostic testing and research.

Please do donate whatever you can - however big or small it all makes a difference.

Thank you so much!
