At New North London Synagogue we aim to provide a supportive and inclusive community that faces the intellectual and spiritual challenges of today with integrity and passion. We are a community that pursues a genuine concern for diversity, and for social and environmental justice.

Story

My Bar Mitzvah is a very important event for me; a time of learning, and becoming a man in the Jewish tradition. It is also a time of celebration, and I feel very privileged to be able to learn in freedom and celebrate with my family and friends. So many people around the world do not have the freedoms or privileges that I enjoy.

I’m asking my friends and family, who might have given me a gift, to
donate some money to my JustGiving page instead, helping to raise funds for the Asylum Seekers Drop In Centre that NNLS runs. The money will be used to buy supermarket and travel vouchers for some of the 400 people from 60 different countries that attend the Drop In each month.

We speak about a Mitzvah - doing good deeds. So I’m also pledging to cook vegetarian dishes for 100 people at the Drop In over the next year, as part of our Synagogue’s ‘10 for 10’ Appeal.
