Recently I went to Israel with my Dad to volunteer for Leket Israel, a food rescue charity. On a super hot day, we picked 2,000 kilos of oranges which helped feed 1,000 families who cannot afford to buy fruit.
Fund raising calendar project
As I love photography I had the idea to make a charity calendar to raise money for Leket and help support the incredible work they do. I decided to make a calendar with photos I have taken while on my recent volunteering trip to Israel as well as from my previous travels around the world. I include on each month some tips and practical information on how we can all use less plastic and be more eco friendly at home. I hope you find some of them useful.
I am therefore hoping that you will consider donating £10 or however much you wish for a calendar.
Thank you very much for helping out and know that every penny I raise will go directly to the people most in need.
Just so you know:
£10 - will rescue 50 kilos of fresh fruit and veg.
£20 - will rescue 25 hot meals from hotels, army bases, corporate and government buildings as well as 50 kilos of fresh fruit and veg.
£62.50 - will supply an elderly person with a daily hot 'rescuded' meal for 6 months.
£105 - will supply a youth at risk with hot 'rescued' meals every day of the school year. Find out more in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzlSWq7EdwQ
More about Leket
For every £1 donated, Leket will rescue and redistribute £4 worth of food.
The food rescued by Leket is distributed to over 200 non profit organisations, including homeless shelters, soup kitchens, elderly centres, battered women's centres, community help organisations and schools for at-risk youth. These organisations serve food to over 175,000 Israelis in need every week, regardless of age, gender, religion or ethnic background.
