Story
About 10 years ago my grandma A.K.A Beej was diagnosed with dementia. Over the years she has unfortunately deteriorated severely and as a result now has to have round the clock care. They call it the 'silent killer' and it's clear why having seen how much it has affected her the last 10 years from being a very lively active 80 year old to now almost bed bound, inactive & unresponsive at times at 90. I've chosen to dedicate this ride to her as I have seen how much dementia can affect an individual but not only that, also the wider family.
The money I raise will go to the amazing Dementia UK. They provide specialist dementia support for families through their Admiral Nurse service. When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving compassionate one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions that can be difficult to find elsewhere. They are a lifeline - helping families to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear. Let's do this together and lets #DoItForDementiaNurses
