We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having already beaten breast cancer in 2019, I was sadly diagnosed in February this year with incurable metastatic cancer of the spine and liver. I had major spinal surgery on Valentine's Day to stabilise my spine with metal pins and rods, followed by intense radiotherapy on the spine to blast away any remaining cancer cells. I am now currently undertaking weekly chemotherapy in the hope that it will shrink the aggressive tumours in my liver. This is all in the aid of keeping the cancer at bay and prolonging my life for as long possible. My oncologist has given us a worst-case scenario of 6 months if my treatment doesn't work, but I will prove him wrong. I've beaten cancer once before, so I know I can do it again.

Regardless of my prognosis, I still intend on living life to the full, and for those who know me well, music has always been a huge part of the life. I have always fancied myself as the next Annie Mac and I am convinced that in another life, I would have been DJ Ash, smashing out the dance anthems in Ibiza with Dan by my side, doing what we do best.

In light of this, and to raise money for Cancer Research UK, we will be holding AshFest on Saturday 24th July from 2:00pm at The Linden Tree, School Road, Lowford, Bursledon, Southampton SO31 8BUAshFest will be a day of (loud) music, food, dancing and general merriment and I would love for as many of you to be there to support me doing my first ever live DJ set! I have been doing a bit of DJ-ing practice during lockdown as a little hobby, and I am so excited to finally stand up in front of a crowd of people and play my favourite tunes. This for me is a huge tick off the bucket list. My fellow lover of dance music and good friend, Gareth "Chunk" Nichols, will also be DJ-ing throughout the day and providing us with lots of entertainment, whilst the fabulous owners of The Linden Tree (Stewart & Julie) will be organising a BBQ on the day with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

Here's everything you need to know:

  • Tickets cost £10 each. Please donate to this page a minimum of £10 to secure your ticket for the event. You are of course welcome to donate more if you wish, but please remember to leave your full name and how many tickets you require, so we can add you to the attendee list.
  • This will be an outdoor event. Hopefully the weather will be dry and sunny but please dress appropriately. Event begins from 2:00pm onwards with music ending at 9:00pm. I will be aiming to do my set around 5/6:00pm.
  • Numbers are restricted to 150 people in the outside garden area (providing Boris doesn't rain on our parade!) so it will be first come first serve. Depending on numbers on the day, we will also be selling tickets on the door.
  • General donations are more than welcome if you would prefer not to attend but would still like to support the event and the charity. Every penny does really help and Cancer Research UK is a charity very close to my heart. Please just leave a comment on the page so we don't include you as an attendee

Please come along and not only support me, a local business and Cancer Research UK, but also the fight against cancer. I have no idea what the future holds or how long I have left, but I am all about making memories and living life to the full, and I can guarantee that AshFest is going to be a day to remember - see you all there :)
