Story

Thank you for clicking onto my fundraising page for Jersey Hospice Care.

London Marathon was forever the sporting event I watched on TV and thought to myself ‘one day I will do that!’,’ and so Sunday April 21st 2024 is going to be that ‘one day’ 😊.

It was in 2022, after the birth of my 3rd child that I found my love for running. I ran my first half marathons in September 2022 and loved the adrenaline and buzz of completing them so much I knew a full marathon was the next challenge for me.

My quest for London Marathon started last year in aim for London 2023, however nearing the end of my training programme I picked up an injury that made it extremely painful for me to run. I made the decision in the final week to defer my entry until 2024. At the time I was heartbroken but I always knew it was the right decision for my body.  Fast forward 12 months and I am hopefully stronger, a little bit wiser and even more excited.

Training for a marathon around the demands of 3 young children and a busy job hasn’t been easy and has at times become a little overwhelming. Making the time to train is the biggest challenge of all and sometimes means training at odd hours of the day, through not the finest winter weather.  That aside, I’m absolutely embracing the experience.

With 4 weeks to go until Marathon day, I couldn’t be more motivated and I also have incredible motivation to cross the finish line as I am really honoured to be running for Jersey Hospice Care. Jersey Hospice Care is an incredible service on our island. A service that we are all likely to use or know someone who will require their services at some point.

Jersey Hospice provided wonderful care to my grandmother. The same is true for some of my friends who have lost parents and loved ones too.

Not only do they give the very best to our loved ones in their final days but Jersey Hospice also provides wonderfully compassionate aftercare support for bereaved families/individuals.

Naturally, this essential service doesn’t come cheap. It costs over £20,000 a day to run the charity’s services and funding is hugely down to the generosity of Islanders and their donations.

I know pennies are tight for a lot of people at the moment but if you do have any spare,  I would be beyond grateful and appreciative for your support for this unbelievable charity and it will without question make those miles that little bit easier to tick off come April 21st.

Thanks again

Lots of love
