The London Walk 2023 · 10 March 2023 ·

19 staff members across BHET will be joining SPEAR and The London Homeless Collective on the 10th March to take to the streets of London to raise money for homeless charities across the city.

Story

On 10th March I will be doing The London Walk with some colleagues from BHET.  We’ve partnered up with SPEAR, their tagline, ‘Homelessness to Independence’, and they do just that.   As well as rough sleeper outreach work, they provide accommodation, offer guidance and care on multiple levels and help give people back their purpose by supporting them through their own hopes and  aspirations.

I’ve signed up to do a 21km walk, at night, through London, I figured probably not much different from a drunken night out trying to navigate to the next bar right?  ...my biggest issue right now is what footwear to go with (lord knows I love a heel).

Anyways, whilst it’s not a race, my competitive nature won’t let me turn down the need to raise as much as I possibly can for a cause that’s quite close to my heart.

If I could ask you to dig deep, and if not for the homeless… help me beat the rest of the group!

Homelessness is increasing in London, recent statistics show its up 40% since 2010. Whilst the need is increasing services have been decreasing due to funding cuts. Leaving people vulnerable to extended periods of homelessness which has a detrimental impact on their physical and mental health. The London Homeless Collective brings charities together from pavement to policy. Collectively, the group shares ideas, experience, and opportunities, and work together to ensure that nobody is left behind. On Friday 10th March the sector is coming together with one aim - to fight homelessness in our capital. Aiming to raise £250,000 to support much needed services over one fantastic night.
