Story

Right now, many of our friends and neighbors across the Southern Tier are choosing between putting food on the table and paying bills, like rent and utilities.

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is committed to creating a future without hunger where access to healthy food by all is recognized as fundamental to the well-being and success of individuals and the foundation of a strong, vibrant society.

With the dollars ASMS student raise the food bank can:

  • $5 raised = 15 meals for children
  • $10 raised = 30 meals for children
  • $25 raised = 75 meals for children

The Food Bank service area includes Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins counties, covering nearly 4,000 square miles. In 2019, 43,200 children in the Southern Tier qualify for free or reduced-price school meals. 3,573 children participated in the Back Pack Program. 102,032 packs sent home over weekends and holiday breaks.
