24 hour / 500km Assault Bike Challenge · 22 April 2022

We seek donations of money and food in Ringwood, Fordingbridge and Verwood and to help people in need with emergency food and by directing them towards appropriate help and advice.

Story

Kicking off on Friday 22 April at 8pm I’m attempting to cycle 500km in under 24 hours on an assault bike.

Why do it?

There's an increasing demand on food bank services across the UK and the cost of living crisis is hitting many homes and families hard. Local food banks are seeing the number of people visiting them growing weekly.

Your help could make a big difference and help this local food bank continue to provide emergency food to those who need it.

I'm looking to raise £500 - £1 for every km covered.

What's an assault bike?

It looks like a Victorian fitness contraption and is sometimes referred to as the “Misery Machine”. An assault bike consists of pedals that are attached to a large fan at the front, which in turn is also powered by long grab handles. The result is a piece of equipment that works the upper and lower half of your body, requiring everything to work pretty hard to keep up.

It'll be a long and sweaty 24 hours. All donations mean a huge amount.

Thank you 😊

Luke
