The Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) is a UK-based charity, established in 2010 by the team behind the film The End of the Line. BLUE exists to combat over-fishing and the destruction of biodiversity through the creation of marine reserves and models of sustainable fishing.

About

Welcome to the charitable page for "a Savage way to Sail".  As I sail around the world, I aim to raise awareness for charities that I value and support.  Please do give generously as the charities supported are small, efficient, and are making tangible differences every day.

Overview

I plan to circumnavigate the globe, single-handed; a feat accomplished by c. 300 people - about number fewer than have been into space.  On the way I hope to visit many of BLUE's Marine Protected Areas and raise support for these two excellent charities.

The Route

My global solo circumnavigation is planned to be a "west-about" route from the UK, across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean and Panama Canal, before crossing the Pacific and Indian Oceans via New Zealand and Australia, before (potentially) heading south to the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, then north and home, via St Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha.
