A swim in October · 1 October 2018

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

I am repeating my sea swim of the past two years in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

MSF provides medical care to people who are victims of conflict, natural disasters or oppression. I am swimming with particular thought for their Search and Rescue Missions in the Mediterranean Sea and their advocacy for safe and legal routes for Refugees and Migrants.

I will be swimming 14 miles from Gweek to Penryn Harbour and I'll be allowing myself to get out at any point and re-entering from that point to continue. I love to swim, but as the weather gets colder this remains a big challenge for me.

As I swim I will try and think of the luck that has placed myself and my loved ones in a safe country, of the worlds of the people taking such dangerous journeys and of the medical staff and volunteers putting themselves on the line.
