Story

On the 16th November 2010, Owen Evans passed away in his Mum's arms at the Birmingham Children's Hospital his Dad by their side. He was just 9 years old.

Owen was an active boy who adored life, his family and his friends. Owen loved nothing more than going out on his motor cross bike with his Dad, playing with his sister in the garden or star wars with his friends. Owen was a yellow belt at Karate with great plans to become a black belt by the time he was 13.

Sadly this was never to be...

Owen became ill in August 2010, he was diagnosed with a Hepatitis virus. He was treated at the Birmingham Children's Hospital for 4 weeks and discharged to recover at home. Within 2 weeks he was re-admitted with a low blood count - Aplastic Anaemia was diagnosed.

Owen bravely took any biopsy/transfusion/operation given to him. He never moaned or felt sorry for himself. He fought every step of the way to live - but devastatingly he lost his battle, 3 months after falling ill.

Nothing can bring Owen back, but we may be able to save another child and family from going through this terrible ordeal. Please, we know times are hard at the moment, but every £1 counts. Please give generously to our cause.
