Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 29th of March I will be running in a half marathon. It will take place in London around Hampton Court. I will be raising money for the British Polio Foundation. Please have a look at this if you are interested in knowing more and would like to sponsor me.

Many of us managed to get Polio jabs when we were little bubbas to prevent us from getting Polio. However, there are still people who need help and the right support and equipment to get them through it all. Its one of the most deliberating diseases to go through and has no cure. There are 120,000 people in the UK living with the late affects of Polio and Post Polio Syndrome. The charity provides information, welfare and support to those living with the effects of this disease.

For those of you who are unsure what polio is here is a link to give you more information: http://www.britishpolio.org.uk/polio-and-post-polio-syndrome/polio-and-vaccination/

I’m really passionate about it, as my grandmother got polio at the age of 15 and had been in a wheel chair all her life. She was very strong and only very recently passed away. The British Polio Foundation was very helpful to her and she used to support the Foundation herself.

My Grandmother was a very smiley and wonderful lady. And I want to do all I can to help others who have the same disabilities.

I am running this half marathon in order to raise money so that the charity can help Polio victims who need help in all sorts of ways: people who find it difficult to get out and about, the charity also helps people with polio who can’t manage on their own, to go on holiday or to buy equipment such as wheel chairs, lifting apparatus and a way to make their lives a little bit more manageable.

I hope you can help me help them.

:)
