The 'Sweaty Kidney Scientists' Dragon Boat Challenge · 15 July 2012 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ken would've have been 57 on 5th July 2012 and with Ken, Birthday's would always be the glass half empty. I can just hear him now "I can't believe it Aud, I'm nearly 60!!"
If he'd made it past 12th July that year, he may still have been here to say that. Sadly he's not... but I am. That's why, to remember him this year, I'm joining the Sweaty Kidney Scientists (great name hey) from St Helier Hospital, in their Dragon Boat Team for the Dragon Boat Challenge on the Thames at Kingston on Sunday 15th July, to raise more dosh for the Kidney Fund and Research Institute.
Our dear friend Jim Gooden made an epic climb up Kilimanjaro in July 2010 and helped raise over £7,000 to buy a fantastic piece of kit for the Institute, a kidney cell incubator dedicated to Ken.
I may not raise, nearly half that amount, but I'm going to have a jolly good try and hope that my arms don't seize up!! If you fancy a great day out and want to come and cheer us on too, there's lots happening on the day, stalls, refreshments etc it'll be good fun.
Now where did I put those weights.....?
