Story
Hi, we are four colleagues at the National Heart and Lung Institute who have committed to joining the London to Brighton charity bike ride on the 21st of June, in aid of the British Heart foundation.
The progress made in heart care over the past few decades is nothing short of remarkable. In the 1960s, more than seven in ten heart attacks in the UK were fatal. Today, more than seven in ten people survive. Those survivors are people's parents, partners, and friends, going home and getting their lives back. That, more than anything, is what success looks like — and it's an extraordinary achievement built on decades of brilliant research and dedicated healthcare.
Cardiovascular disease develops silently over a lifetime, yet we only intervene after a crisis. The BHF is funding the technologies that could change that — catching heart disease earlier, before disaster strikes.
