Our vision is that society fully accepts and includes people with Ds. We support families and people with Ds to reach their fullest potential by providing a range of services, influencing public policy and by changing attitudes. We urgently need funding to help families who are struggling right now.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My mum and I are raising money for Down's Syndrome Scotland because we are passionate for what they stand for. My little brother Matthew was born in 2012 and shortly after his birth he was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome. Since then, we have faced many challenges as a family but Matthew has taught us so much and we are so grateful he has came in to our lives. Matthew is very loving, kind, funny and loves spending time with us just as much as we love spending time with him and I am proud to call him my little brother.

Down's Syndrome is a genetic condition that causes delayed physical and mental development where you are born with an extra chromosome 21. Instead of having 2 of this chromosome, if you have Down's Syndrome you have 3 and that is why the technical term for the condition is 'Trisomy 21'. This is also why World Down's Syndrome Day is on the 21st day of the 3rd Month of the year (21st March).

So, to raise funds for Down's Syndrome Scotland, in the month of March, me and my mum have set a challenge for ourselves to do an active activity each day for 21 days. We will do each activity for 21 minutes or 21 times and Matthew can join in with some of them too. Some of the activities we are doing include; exercises, dancing and different workouts, but, the biggest challenge will be on World Down Syndrome Day, where we plan to walk round the Heritage Loch 21 times which is equal to 15 miles.

Our 21 in 21 challenge will start on 1st March. We hope that you can support us with this sponsor and please remember that any donation can go a very long way for Down's Syndrome Scotland who support many people with Down's Syndrome and their families in Scotland.
