In the past three weeks, 72 animals have arrived into our care and the extension of lockdown means we are still without income from our coffee shop, charity shops, private boarding or fundraising events.

Story

On a walk back from Exhibition park to home, we passed Newcastle Dog & Cat shelter and Ava was telling me about how her school had chose the shelter as their charity this year and about how she wanted to volunteer after this was all over (covid-19). Of course with school being closed they can't really do too much currently. We have done a sponsored 1 mile walk the last couple of years (an organised event) for a different charity which likely isn't happening this year so we decided it was a good idea to do our own walk (just a bit further) to help out Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, they have had extra animals come in to their shelters since lockdown and are unable to rehome at this time. Please see further below for more info from the shelter about their current situation.

Ava and Jenson are planning to walk from Newburn to Wylam and possibly back on Sunday 24th May (day subject to change depending on the weather) if you could spare anything to help, it would be amazing.

From Newcastle Dog and Cat shelter...

We still have to pay our bills to look after our animals. Everything from water to electricity, vet bills and medications. Around £15k each month is spent on veterinary treatment alone, excluding the cost of any medicines to treat our animals. These are very worrying times for us as we dont know when our normal lives will resume, although it is looking to be in the very distant future. We desperately need your help to look after our animals. We have been inundated with food and bedding donations and now have enough food to last us for approximately 12 months which we are very grateful for. We are struggling for storage for our donations so we are asking if youd like to help, please consider leaving a monetary donation to help us with our bills. No matter the amount, every penny does help and is very much appreciated. Thank you.
