Avnet cycle to work on 4th July 2012 · 20 June 2012

At Amber’s residential centres disadvantaged young people have the chance to leave behind their troubled pasts. They are supported to overcome personal barriers and gain the social, educational and practical tools to lead successful, fulfilling, independent lives and be valuable members of society.

Story

Our target will be to raise £25k for Amber through various fundraising efforts. However, we will also get involved in a very practical way by helping the Amber residents (Amberteers) with CV writing and interview techniques. For those who would like to volunteer their time to the charity, this will also be possible.

Activities so far have included:
- Avnet ‘cycle to work day’ on the 4th July.

- Charity golf day on the 11th September at The Grove

The total cost per annum per Amberteer is £13,000 which is not insignificant. But if this is what it takes to – in the words of the charity - “transform the life of a person on the edge of society and give them the hope and belief that work and a place to live is a reality for them and not just other people” then I believe it’s money well spent.
