"How do you fancy a weekend in London?" she said.
"Two nights away, no kids, a bit of sightseeing....then she mentioned the marathon..."
No seriously, we are walking round London in aid of Brain Tumour Research in memory of Gill's husband Matt who died in March 2016 after an 18 month battle with a brain tumour.
"We were devastated when we had the diagnosis in September 2014. He had two lots of surgery, one course of radiotherapy and two courses of chemotherapy to no avail. His tumour left him blind and in a wheelchair, things that we never expected. Matt was amazing throughout his whole illness and kept going through sheer grit and determination. He wanted to spend as long as possible with his family, including our two young children."
So we have decided to raise money for this great charity in honour of a great and inspiring guy. Between us we have varying levels of fitness, so some of us are having to put quite a bit of effort to be ready for this!
Our target will fund one day's research into this awful disease - its the least we can do! So thank you for whatever support you can give us.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. This is unacceptable! I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
