Story
I'll be traveling to Macedonia this Saturday with Al-Khair Foundation (AKF), to provide emergency assistance for refugees, mainly from Syria and Iraq, trying to make their way through Europe alive.
I will be:
a) helping the refugees plan and map their route through Macedonia and Europe, translating for those who are lost and can only speak Arabic
b) helping to assemble and then distribute 10,000 survival and rescue packs a day
c) providing warm clothing to the refugees, many of whom arrive still wet/shivering from their journey
d) 24-7 (non-violent) company while they wait for the train
AKF, alongside the Red Cross and UNHCR are the only charities present in the small town of Gevgelijia, at the Macedonia-Greece border. The refugees who arrive here have already traveled by boat from Turkey to Greece, and trekked through Greece by bus and foot, having lost family members and belongings along the way. They are entering Macedonia at rate of around 10,000 per day in the hope of catching the train to the northern Macedonia-Serbia border, to continue their travels through Europe.
Please please please donate. None of the relief efforts
are possible without your generosity (100%of donations
received will go directly to the refugees, not towards flights,
accommodation etc). The costs of the relief packs are included below.
A big thank you in advance for those who choose to support!!
